On Wednesday, DC fans got a sneak peek at forthcoming anti-hero film Black Adam, which stars Dwayne Johnson, Pierce Brosnan and Aldis Hodge.
In October, Black Adam is bringing the fury. On Wednesday (June 8), Dwayne Johnson – whose stars as the film’s protagonist – shared the movie’s official trailer on social media.

“The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change,” reads the tagline for the film, which also stars Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone. The trailer introduces Johnson as Teth-Adam, who’s born in captivity in the the fictional country of Kahndaq for 5,000 years. Although he dies at the hands of his enslavers, Teth-Adam is brought back to life by a magic bolt and given the powers of Egyptian gods. Freed from his tomb – and also coming to terms with his son’s death – Teth-Adam uses his newfound powers to “unleash his unique form of justice” on the modern world.
The film also marks the first time that Johnson has starred in a superhero movie. In April, he spoke during CinemaCon at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas about working on the film for over a decade.
“The whole idea was, if we were going to do it, we were going to take our time and do it right. It really served us well to wait and hold and watch these other stories and these superheroes unfold,” Johnson said. “Black Adam is one of the things in my life that gets me out of bed.”
Black Adam soars into theaters on October 21.
