In her own words, Megan Thee Stallion spoke to Elle about the aftermath of the Tory Lanez verdict, which will also be her last public comment on the matter.

Megan Thee Stallion is done talking about Tory Lanez. Just months after Lanez was found guilty on three felony counts of shooting the Houston rapper. Meg gave an extensive interview with Elle about her thoughts on the verdict, which she says will be her last time speaking about the matter.

In the interview, conducted by author and journalist Evette Dionne, Meg spoke about her experiences with depression and trauma, which led to her 2022 album Traumazine. The 28-year-old also detailed “false narratives” about the incident.

“Even some of my peers in the music industry piled on with memes, jokes, and sneak disses, and completely ignored the fact that I could have lost my life,” Meg shared. “Instead of condemning any form of violence against a woman, these individuals tried to justify my attacker’s actions.”

Meg, who was present for one day of Lanez’s trial in Los Angeles last year, also explained her thoughts on the verdict.

“When the guilty verdict came on Dec. 23, 2022, it was more than just vindication for me, it was a victory for every woman who has ever been shamed, dismissed, and blamed for a violent crime committed against them,” she said.

While Meg admitted that she still experiences anxiety, she has a brighter outlook than before. “I’ve accepted this chapter of my life as part of my journey, but I will not allow it to define my journey. I’ve been dragged through the mud, but I’m so happy that I’m able to finally come out of it with a new perspective,” she said.

Although Lanez has requested a new trial, Meg has reentered the public eye. Earlier this month, she presented at the Country Music Awards and was announced as a possible co-star in an upcoming Adam Sandler film directed by the Safdie Brothers.
