On Tuesday morning, media influencers and artists including Scarface and Westside Gunn mourned the passing of Migos member Takeoff.
The entertainment industry is in deep mourning after the fatal death of Migos and Unc & Phew member Takeoff early Tuesday morning. The Last Rocket rapper was at at 810 Billiards & Bowling Houston with Quavo, his uncle and fellow Unc & Phew member, when a shooting occurred. Takeoff, born Kirsnick Khari Ball, died at the scene. He was 28 years-old.
Former collaborators and public figures reacted to the news online, including Yung Miami of City Girls, who’s also signed to Migos’ label, Quality Control Music.

Also sharing her thoughts on the matter was author and sports journalist Jemele Hill, who explained that she was in college when The Notorious B.I.G. and 2Pac were killed, and assumed that rap music would not experience future fatalities.
“Now it’s happening so frequently that you barely have time to recover before someone else [is] killed,” she added.
I was in college when Biggie and ‘Pac were killed and thought there was no way we’d ever experience anything remotely close to that again. Now it’s happening so frequently that you barely have time to recover before someone else killed. RIP Takeoff.

In another tweet, Hill added: “Black people should be allowed to wear expensive things they’ve worked hard to buy, be out late, have petty arguments, without losing their lives. We keep pointing the blame at everything but the people who recklessly pull the trigger.”

Also sharing a candid with the late rapper was music journalist and Rap Radar co-host Elliott Wilson, who held a CRWN conversation with Migos in 2018. In August, Unc & Phew returned to Rap Radar as a duo to discuss their debut album, Only Built For Infinity Links.

do y’all not realize these niggas changed the whole cadence of rap when they came out? rip Takeoff. this man has been staying out the way, keeping it minimal, and minding his own buisiness since the beginning. If that’s not enough to be left alone, then idk.

Takeoff, man…
Offset lost a brother he’ll never get to fix things with.
For nothing.
Quavo lost his nephew.
For nothing.
Rap lost a good one.
For nothing.
All this bloodshed.
For nothing.
It’ll never make sense.
Never ever.
Rest in Peace.
Prayers to the family of the fallen. pic.twitter.com/6l4PUO2wp1— juice wayne (@visecs) November 1, 2022
You gotta be a very sick minded individual to see Quavo frantic and mourning over his murdered nephew’s body and immediately take out your phone to film it. Takeoff deserved better. This is disgusting.
