On Monday, music executive and Ludacris’ manager Chaka Zulu was one of three people shot outside restaurant Apt4b Atlanta in Buckhead.
Chaka Zulu, veteran music executive and longtime manager of Ludacris, was reportedly shot in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta late Sunday night (June 26). According to an incident report, Chaka was one of three men shot outside of Afro-Caribbean restaurant Apt4b when Atlanta PD responded to a call that multiple people were shot around 11:35 pm at the 2293 Peachtree Rd location.
Police Lt. Germain Dearlove told Channel 2 Action News that the shooting was a “result of a dispute in the parking lot” behind the restaurant. While investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from local businesses that share the parking lot with Apt4b, the shooter’s whereabouts are unknown.
While one victim was reported deceased at the scene, Chaka, who co-founded record label Disturbing tha Peace with Ludacris and Jeff Dixon in 1998, was transported to the hospital along with another victim. Since the shooting, Chaka was listed as “critical but stable” according to a source. The deceased victim was later identified by the the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office as 23-year-old Artez Benton of Scottdale, Georgia.
In a recent Instagram post where Chaka posed with Pusha T backstage during the It’s Almost Dry Tour, fans commented uplifting words and offered their prayers. One commenter was Bow Wow who said, “Big dawg! Shake that off bounce back! You in all of our prayers!!!!! U got this fam!”
With Ludacris and Jeff Dixon, Chaka signed other acts to Disturbing tha Peace including Shawnna, Bobby V, Chingy, I-20 and Field Mob.
