Produced by Ludwig Göransson, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Prologue features a trio of songs from Tems, Amaarae and Santa Fe Klan.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is getting the EP treatment. On Monday night (July 25), an EP dedicated to the film was released, featuring a trio of songs from Amaarae (“A Body, A Coffin,”) Santa Fe Klan (“Soy”) and Tems, whose cover of Bob Marley and the Wailer’s 1974 classic “No Woman, No Cry” was included in the official trailer for the Black Panther sequel.

Wakanda Forever Prologue was executive-produced by Ludwig Göransson, who also produced the original score for the 2018 film and contributed to the 2018 soundtrack, Black Panther: The Album curated by Kendrick Lamar. Also included on the soundtrack were SZA, Vince Staples, Travis Scott, Jay Rock, Future, Jorja Smith and more.

“This Prologue is an aural first glimpse of Wakanda Forever. The sound world for the film began with extended trips to Mexico and Nigeria,” Göransson and Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler said about the EP in an official press statement. “We spent our days working with traditional musicians who educated us about the cultural, social and historical contexts of their music. We built a catalogue of instrumental and vocal recordings with them that explored both traditional and non-traditional uses of their musical material. During the nights on these trips, we had recording sessions with contemporary artists who were akin to the characters and thematic material explored in the film. Using the script as a blueprint, along with the recordings from the traditional musicians, we began to build a musical vocabulary for the characters, storylines and cultures. The instrumental score and soundtrack for Wakanda Forever both organically grew from these sessions and workshops. They are conceived together as a singular entity to create an immersive and enveloping sound world for the film.”

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever releases to theaters on November 11.
