Emmett Till accuser, Carolyn Bryant Donham has recently been discovered at her home in Kentucky for the first time in 20 years.

The search for Carolyn Bryant Donham is over after a recent sighting of the 88-year-old in Kentucky. On Monday (August 1), the Daily Mail reported that the Emmett Till accuser is receiving end of life hospice care in a small Kentucky community under the care of her son, 71-year-old Thomas Bryant. The article also revealed that Donham is legally blind and suffers from cancer.

When approached by the publication, Donham’s son answered the door, to which the 88-year-old stood just feet behind him. Donham’s last sighting was in 2004 when she was living in Raleigh, North Carolina. When asked if his mother could speak about Till, Thomas Bryant shook his head while Donham stood by silently.

The discovery of Donham comes one month after an unserved arrest warrant, dated August 29, 1955, was found for her in a Mississippi courthouse. Till’s family immediately called for Donham’s arrest, to which protestors began searching for Donham what was believed to be her residence in Raleigh, along with local senior living facilities.

In unpublished memoir titled I Am More Than A Wolf Whistle, the now 88-year-old woman claims that she did not want Till to be lynched, although it was her accusations that led to his gruesome murder in Mississippi in August 1995.

“I did not wish Emmett any harm and could not stop harm from coming to him, since I didn’t know what was planned for him,” Donham states in the 99-page manuscript compiled by her daughter-in-law. “I tried to protect him by telling Roy that ‘He’s not the one. That’s not him. Please take him home.’”
